Edna Ricka (Zahn) Streufert was born to Christian and Pauline Zahn in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on May 9, 1909, the 7th of 10 children. She was baptized into Christ on May 30, 1909 at eltern haus, (the house of her parents) in Ann Arbor, MI. Her entire life was a walk with and a testimony to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In 1935 she met Albert H.T. Streufert. They were married April 17, 1936. They lived in Aurora, IL, in various towns of Michigan, including Ann Arbor and McBain, and in St. Louis, MO. Albert served as a public and Lutheran school teacher in several of these places.

Edna was a faithful, loving wife and a devoted mother for their ten children. She also worked as a part-time secretary for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod at the Lutheran Building in St. Louis during the 1960s and 70s.

Following retirement to West Chicago, IL (where Albert died March 30, 1995) Edna lived respectively in Arlington Heights, IL, and Joplin, MO, before moving at last to Grand Rapids, Ml. For the last year and one-half, she had resided at Clark on Keller Lake, where she fell asleep in Christ on July 14, 2007.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters, her husband Albert, her son Joel, a son-in-law Carl Waldow, and a granddaughter, Miranda Meyers. She is survived by nine children: Judith Waldow, Glen Ellyn, IL; Anita (Richard) Meyers, Grand Rapids, MI; Rev. Daniel (Donna) Streufert, South Bend, IN; Magdalene (Arthur) Karsel, Algonquin, IL; Martha (Dr. Louis) Jander, Houston, TX; Cynthia (Rev. Lowell) Rossow, Joplin, MO; Rev. Stephen Streufert, Liberty, MO: Jonathan (Linda) Streufert, Catharpin, VA; and Rachel (David) Nolen, Austin, TX; by 26 grandchildren; by 20 great-grandchildren, by three sisters in-law (Lorena Zahn, Lydia Rueter, Selma Mayer), by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and by countless friends.

Visitations were held at St. John Lutheran Church, 126 E. Seminary Way, Wheaton, IL, 60187, from 7:00 9:00 pm Tuesday, July 17, 2007 and Wednesday, July 18, 2007 from 9:00 10:00 am. Funeral services were at at 10:00am at the church with committal at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Aurora, IL. Memorial gifts may be made to St. John Lutheran Church and/or LCMS Board for Mission Services.

Well done, thou good and faithful servant..Blessed are they who die in the Lord and their works do follow them.Come ye blessed of my Father and inherit the Kingdom prepared for you.

Mother, dear friend, we shall miss you but we will see you again at Jesus side in heaven. Rest in His peace.
