Mrs. Edna Rice, age 91, of Lansing, formerly of the Howard City, Trufant, and Greenville area, passed away Saturday morning, April 26, 2008 at Ingham Regional Medical Center, Lansing. The daughter of William & Pearl Raymer, she was born on Nov. 5, 1916 in Kalamazoo.

A graduate of Howard City High School, she married Hiram Rice on Nov. 11, 1939, in Howard City. After her children were grown, she worked at the Wolverine World Wide glove factories in both Howard City and Greenville, in addition to packing pickles in the summer months and making mustard in the winter months at Lakeview.

In Howard City, she was a life member of the Ivanhoe Chapter No. 128 of the Order of the Eastern Star, had attended the United Methodist Church, and was active in a sewing and quilting circle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Rice, on Jan. 26, 1994; a granddaughter, Anne OBrien on Sept. 4, 2001; and twelve brothers and sisters.

Surviving are a son, William Henry Rice, of Lansing, formerly of Belding; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia & Duane Litchfield of Lansing; three grandchildren, Wade Rice of Jackson, Deborah & Marshall Lee of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Jane Lornez of Muskegon; a grandson-in-law, Cory OBrien of Lansing; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with the Rev. Jerry Jones, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating. Order of the Eastern Star rites will conclude the ceremony, with burial taking place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.

Visitation is on Thursday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions to Activities Fund at Grand Haven Manor in Lansing will be available.     Grandma will be missed dearly by her Grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her great great grandchildren will know her thru out memories.
