Douglas Craig Lubbers, age 68, of Gowen, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 at home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice.  

The son of Harvey & Frances Jean (DeWent) Lubbers, he was born on August 9, 1951 in Grand Rapids and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving stateside at the end of the Vietnam War.

He met the love of his life, Sharon Elaine Smith, and they married on October 20, 1978 in Grand Rapids.  Family was everything to Doug and when he wasn’t working he loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  and his wife, Sharon E. Lubbers.  Surviving are his children, Brian Thompson, Gina Thompson, Shauna Lubbers-Denslow, and Amber Dawn Crystal;  grandchildren,  Shannon Thompson, Kameron Snyder, Lynnae Lubbers and Bentley Lubbers-Denslow;  great-grandchildren, BayLeigh, Weston, Jaxon and Jace;  three sisters, Lisa Schuitema, Teri Stadt, and Wanda Burns;  a brother, Dennis Lubbers;  and several nieces and nephews.
