Donovan W. "Don" Sherrick, age 84, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Spectrum Health-Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids. The son of Gilbert & Alberta (Moyer) Sherrick, he was born on February 24, 1931 in Greenville.
On April 16, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church he married the former Nancy M. Breimayer and together they raised four children and enjoyed almost 52 years of marriage. A veteran of the Korean War, Don proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101, Cleveland-Wolverton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3794, as well as the Moose Lodge and St. Charles Catholic Church.
Don spent most of his working years as an Union Electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 557 and was recently awarded his 60 year membership pin. He enjoyed golfing, gambling, watching his grandkids sporting events, and spending time with his family. He will long be remembered as "the man who never said no" and his willingness to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Sherrick; his wife, Nancy Sherrick on March 24, 2007; a sister, Joetta M. Kern Thome on August 16, 2005; a brother, Eugene B. "Gene" Sherrick on December 13, 2009; and a grandson, Jason Donovan Sherrick on September 26, 2014.
Surviving are his children, Robert Sherrick, Donovan D. Sherrick, Craig & Christine Sherrick, all of Greenville, and Tammy & Jeff Eastman of Stanton; grandchildren, Amber Ramey, Nathan & Maggie Sherrick, Taylor Dykstra, Andrew Sherrick, Darrin & Amanda Sherrick, Dakota Sherrick, and Cameron Eastman; great-grandchildren, Kailey Ramey, Alex Sherrick, Jaxson Sherrick, Austin Santure, Jacob Santure, Madlyn Kortekaas, Raylen Dykstra, Kaiden Dykstra, Bryan Sherrick, and Emily Sherrick; four sisters, Glennis Jensen of Arizona, Jenny & Buster Vasher of Harrison, Sandy Quist, and Shirley Johnson, all of Greenville; siblings-in-law, Phil Spitzley of Sunfield, Sally & Dan Leik of Portland, Tom & Kay Breimayer, Jim & Janice Breimayer of Saranac, and Dick Breimayer of Portland; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where family and friends will also gather at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday to process to St. Mary's Catholic Church, south of Belding at 9041 W. Krupp Road, where Don's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The Rev. Father Mark Bauer will preside and Rite of Committal, with full military honors, will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Dear Children of Don, So sorry to learn of Don’s death. What a great friends your Dad & Mom were with us. I tried several times to call him in the past year, but no body returned my calls, Love, you all Garnet runstrom
