Donald R. Chase Jr. (Rick) born 11/15/1952, Died 08/20/2013

Rick was a Vietnam Vet, and retired from Ameri-tech. He loved animals,
family, and reading science fiction.

He passed at the Battle Creek VA hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Sr. and Wanda Chase.
Surviving are his siblings, Cheryl (Doug) Leversee, Judy (Bob) Farnham, Laura (Dave) Soderquist, and Mike (Laura) Chase, plus many nieces and nephews.
Donations can be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society, or the Humane Society.

He is loved, and will be missed.Internment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.

Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.

    Rest well old friend, you earned it. You fought the cancer, and surprised the doctors and nurses on how long you made it. You are missed greatly.

    I considered it an privilege to care for Mr. Chase–an Army Veteran who served his country honorably–I will remember him as a gentle, kind man who gradually allowed us to know him and also respect him for the person that he was. Thank you also to the family–Bob and Judy in particular, for being there every day to see Don and to talk with staff about him. I appreciated your presence and your ongoing support for him.

    Caring for Mr. Chase at the end of his life at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center’s palliative care unit was an honor. He will be missed.a

    He was such a pleasant man. It was an honor to care for him. At last, he is at peace.
