On Sunday, September 15, 2019, we wrote Donald Hiler’s last chapter in his life when he lost his battle with kidney cancer.
Donald was undoubtedly a devoted father & family man and loved spending time with his family and friends enjoying cook-outs and bonfires. He had a passion for the great outdoors, enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, working on cars and knickknack projects around the house. Donald was full of jokes, always trying to prank someone for a laugh. His smile and laughter will be greatly missed by us all.
He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Hiler; his mother, Henrietta Hiler; father, Claud Hiler; brother, Nathan Hiler; sister, Jenny; brother-in-law, Robert Grover; lifelong friends, Gary & Mark Travis; and aunts and uncles he dearly missed over the years.
Surviving are his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Bonnie J. (French) Hiler; their seven children, David & Lori Hiler, Nathan & Amanda Hiler, Rebecca & Doug Melle, Daniel Hiler, Stephanie Thorne & Darren Elder, Sarah & Justin Yanke, and Samantha & Adam Jones; two adopted children, Breanna Hiler and Lydia Hiler; grandchildren, Nicole Hiler, Hunter Hiler, Dakota Hiler, Nick & Kaylee Jones, Caden Hiler, Ryan Hiler, Austin Hiler, Alexis Dextor, Brycen Kacos, Hailey Melle, Jaylynn Hiler, Tory Hiler, Blaze Hiler, Trenton Hiler, Kamren Lupien, Gwendolyn Vaughn, Ryland Wisman, Donavin Elder, Justin Yanke, Charles Yanke, Avery Jones, and Aaron Jones; his siblings, Martha Grover, Thomas Hiler, Henrietta & Jeff Seitz, Lavina Gaiser, Claud Hiler; sisters-in law, Christina & Scott Stidham, Jen Huges, Barbara Beurkens, and Jan Harris; as well as many loving nieces and nephews; friends who made and impact in his life, Tom Travis, Mike Travis, Grandma Sue a.k.a. " momma", and the rest of the Travis family, Aaron and all the Bass Boys and their mother, Mareen, Lonny Peirce, and many more. He had a special love for the Bozarth, Wilcox, Harris, Hubbard, Mast, and Yanke Families—we could write a book for just his friends. We will all dearly miss him and the fun times we all shared.
Visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Morley Baptist Church, 248 N. Cass Street, Morley, where memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pastor Steve Finn will officiate and a luncheon immediately follow the service at the MCC hall at 151 E. 7th Street, Morley. (Please park at the MCC Hall — just a block away — to save parking at the church for handicapped people. In addition the MCC Hall will be open for us to use at 10 a.m. for those who are bringing a dish to pass at our luncheon which will be cold sandwiches and beverages).
Donald wrote a message for words of wisdom. That took him a lifetime to figure out. “If you don’t leave your past in the past, it will destroy your future. Live life for what today has to offer, not what the past has taken away. Don’t let the past bring further hate and sadness.

To Donald’s friends and family,
I did not know Donald or any of his family, but this morning I accidentally clicked on his obit, and was compelled to read the whole thing till I got to his message at the end.-á It was the answers to the pain I have been enduring from past hurt and struggles.-á I have been reliving the hurt and pain over and over, letting the past control my life.-á I hope you don’t mind that I copied his words down so I can read them everyday. I am originally from Greenville area but live in Florida.-á I do believe those who have passed on can still communicate and help us who are in need.-á Thank you, Donald… You are truly an angel of goodness and light!
You’ll always be in my heart. You are going to be deeply missed. I love you Donald G¥ñ=ƒÖÅ
