Diane K. Muns, age 84, of Greenville, passed away Friday afternoon, September 23, 2016 at Spectrum Health Rehab & Nursing Center-United Hospital in Greenville.  The daughter of Donald H. & Ella S. (Olsen) Reese, she was born on December 9, 1931 in Sheridan.  She graduated from Stanton High School in 1949 and received her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Montcalm Community College after her children were grown.

On March 31, 1951, in Stanton, she married Duane L. Muns and together they enjoyed 65 years of marriage and raised six children and there was always room for more at the table.  Diane also worked outside the home for the Montcalm County Extension Office, Montcalm Credit Bureau  and later as a secretary in the counseling office for Greenville Public Schools.

After they retired, they happily left the cold of The Mitten to winter in Apache Junction, Arizona for 19 years.  Diane had been a member of Turk Lake United Methodist Church since 1953 and enjoyed gardening, music, writing, painting, and creating something out of nothing. Her greatest joy was always being with her family. Her six children were involved in so many activities, she often caught herself coming and going. She was grateful when her children started driving. She never missed a concert, a competition, a performance or a call to the principal’s office. When she had grandchildren, they became the light of her life. Each one was special to her and they have their own unique memories with her.

Diane was an amazing mother, wife, friend and confidante. She will be missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents.  Surviving are her husband, Duane Muns of Greenville;  their children, Joe & Sue Muns of Sidney, John & Deb Muns of Greenville, Fred Muns of Greenville, Sandy & Jim Gardner of Greenville, Chuck & Ana Muns of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and Kathy & Kevin Doorn of Grand Rapids;  two brothers, John L. & Jan Reese of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Thomas H. & Lorraine Reese of Stanton ;  eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren;  and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life and luncheon will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at Turk Lake United Methodist Church,  8900 W. Colby Road, Greenville. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place privately at East Montcalm Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Turk Lake United Methodist Church.
