Deloris Mae Sloan, age 72, of Homosassa, Florida, formerly of Belding, passed away Sunday evening, July 27, 2014 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Florida. The daughter of L. Mae (Hubbard) & Temple V. Robinson, Sr., she was born on May 14, 1942 in Belding. A graduate of Belding High School, she married Kenneth M. Sloan on July 22, 1961 in Belding and together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage.
During Kens 20 year career with the U.S. Coast Guard, they lived in a number of states and retired to Florida. Deloris was a multi-talented artist and musician, having taught herself to paint and play the organ and also enjoyed landscaping, crocheting, knitting, and quilting. Deloris retired from AT&T where she worked as a telephone operator.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two children, Kenneth Earl Sloan and Christina Marie Sloan.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth M. Sloan of Homosassa; their children, Kevin & Wanda Sloan of Colorado, Mike & Shawn Sloan of Battle Creek, Stacie & Daryl Uhrbrock of Muskegon, Dion & Lynne Sloan of Kent City, and Christopher Sloan and his fiancée, Becky Sherburne, of Grant; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Temple & Mary Robinson, Jr. of Belding, Marilyn & Joseph Steward of Ionia, Shirley & Keith Cook of Lowell, Robert & Karen Robinson of Cedar Springs, Jim & Leigh Robinson of Belding, and Dan Robinson; siblings-in-law, Darwin & Paula Sloan of Arizona, Diana Connor of Colorado, and Rick & Vernonne Sloan of California; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rev. Don Spachman, pastor of the Greenville First United Methodist Church will officiate and committal services will follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Envelopes for memorial contributions to the charity of ones choice will be available at the funeral home.
