Graveside Committal: 10:00 a.m. at West Pine Cemetery (Gravel Ridge Road north of Coral Road)

Mr. Delmar Baker, age 78, of Coral, formerly of Lakeview, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 31, 2006 at home. The son of Clifton and Nettie (Fries) Baker, he was born on March 14, 1928 in Lakeview. A proud veteran of World War II, Del was also a member of the Hough-Pontius Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3701 in Lakeview. He retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Company in Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a twin brother, Donald Baker. Surviving are his special friend, Arlene Powell of Coral; a daughter, Cathy & Louis Carman of Greenville; two sisters, Jan Ackley of Lakeview, and Marilee Hansen of Gowen; four grandchildren, Susanna & Bruce Day of Six Lakes, Elizabeth & Kevin Lanz of Ionia, Michael & Rebecca Oliver, stationed with the U.S. Coast Guard in Virginia, and Brian & Kimberly Oliver, stationed with the U.S. Army in Colorado; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and graveside committal services, with military honors, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2007at West Pine Cemetery. To send a message of sympathy to the family, or to sign Dels online guest book, please click the “Sign Guest Book” link above.
