Debra Steed, age 64, of Lakeview, passed away Monday morning, March 4, 2019 at home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice.  The daughter of Carlotta (Manley) Bignell & William Hauser, she was born on February 8, 1955 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

On June 7, 1980, she married James Edward Steed and together, they enjoyed nearly 39 years of marriage.  Debra retired as a supervisor from General Motors Fisher Body plant after 28 years of service.  In retirement she also worked as camp director for the United Methodist Church's Lakeview Family Campground and later as a bus driver for Lakeview Community Schools.  Deb enjoyed watching the Michigan State Spartans and camping, but found her greatest joy in time spent with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, James Steed of Lakeview; her children,  Jamee & Jeremy Babbitt of Westphalia, Kristina Falwell of Columbia, Maryland, Brian & Bonnie Steed of Cedar Springs, and  Jules & Jodie Chapko of Lennon; two brothers, Craig Hauser of Lansing and Terry Dishong; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Deb was looking forward to welcoming her first great grandchild in April.

Visitation with the family is from 12-1 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at New Life United Methodist Church, 6584 W. Howard City-Edmore Road, Six Lakes (just east of Lakeview on Highway M-46), where memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.  Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place.

I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of DebraGÇÖs family. Death is the hardest thing we have to deal with in life. I know my words canGÇÖt change anything and can do little to ease the pain you are feeling, so I pray that the God of comfort calm your hearts and help you heal. (2 Thessalonians 2:16,17) Lean on Him in the days to follow. One way that God comforts us today is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear.
