David A. Carney, age 60, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 surrounded by family. 

The son of Boyd & Doris (Smith) Carney, he was born on November 28, 1955, in Grand Rapids. David was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. 

David is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, William (Bill) Carney. Surviving are his daughter, Michelle (Tyler) Werkema; three grandchildren, Jordyn, Isaiah, and Andrew; brother, Tom (Sherry) Carney; two sisters, Carol (Steve) Turner and Kelley (Vic) Guy; aunt, Ruth Smith; uncle, Willard (Carol) Smith; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Resurrection Cemetery, 4100 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming.

Cremation will take place. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
