Darwin James Scholten, age 55, of rural Sheridan, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 20, 2015 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville.  The son of Donald Irving & Jane Irene (Preston) Scholten, he was born on October 25, 1959 in Clare and was a 1977 graduate of Greenville High School.  A skilled carpenter, Darwin owned and operated Scholten Construction for many years and enjoyed woodworking and carving, as well as fishing and hunting. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Scholten in 2002;  and by a niece, Dani Scholten in 2013.  Surviving are his mother, Jane Scholten of Sheridan;  his daughter, Rachelle & Ben Isenhoff of Greenville;  four grandchildren, Clair, Mark, Daphne, and James Isenhoff, all at home;  two brothers and a sister, Dean & Jan Scholten of Sheridan, Tammy & Roy Doolittle of Greenville, and Darrell & Annie Scholten of Williamston;  several nieces and nephews;  and his faithful canine companion, Fee.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family as they celebrate Darwin's life this Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 1-3 p.m. at the Greenville Moose Lodge, 5649 S Greenville Road, Greenville (just south of Randy Merren Auto Sales on M-91).  Instead of flowers, Darwin would have appreciated contributions in his memory to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/donate).
