Mr. Daniel Lee Butler, age 52, of Stanton, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 29, 2008 at Carson City Hospital after a long battle with cancer. The son of Arnold & Josephine (Hallock) Butler, he was born on Sept. 14, 1955 in Greenville and had been self-employed in the drywall trade. Dan was was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had been a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Stanton. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing old-time country western music… especially on WSCG with host Gary Meyers and fellow “Marlboro Boy” Pat Fulk. He delighted in spending time with his grandkids.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Butler; his grandmother, Iva Hallock; and a great aunt, Donnabelle Cole. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Butler of Stanton; three grandchildren, Kiara, Gunner, and Fisher; his former wife and mother of his daughter, Deb Corwin of Stanton. Also surviving are his mother, Josephine Butler of Tennessee; two brothers, Lee & Cindy Butler of Ionia, and Hank & Dawn Butler of St. Louis; a sister, Toni & Jim Huffer of Iowa; his grandfather, LaVerne Hallock of Edmore; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the Stanton Amercian Legion Hall, with a time of food and fellowship following. Honoring Dan’s wishes, cremation will take place.

Grateful of the care provided by Carson Home Hospice (especially caregiver Kirk and nurse Layne), Dan would appreciated memorial contributions to Carson Home Hospice instead of flowers.
