Daniel Joseph Duffy, Jr., 75, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday morning, October 25, 2017, at home under the care of his wife and Spectrum Health Hospice.

The son of Daniel & Patricia (Fox) Duffy, he was born on September 25, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois.  On April 19, 1975 in Grand Rapids, he married Charrie Ann Wickwire, and together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage.

Daniel was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy.  He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expedition Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross, among other awards.

Surviving are his loving wife, Charrie; four children, William & Anne Duffy of San Francisco, California, Christopher Duffy of Rockford, Katharine & Ben Garza of Glendale, Arizona, and Jeffrey Duffy of Grand Rapids;  eight grandchildren, Jack, Will, Ella, Payton, Michael, Avery, Savannah, and Cora;  four sisters Genevieve, Judy, Patricia, and Diane;  and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial gathering is planned for Monday, November 20, 2017 at the American Legion Post in Rockford, 330 Rockford Park Drive NE, 49341.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Should friends desire contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Branch County, where Dan rescued his four-legged best friend, Ozzy, whom he chose to call "my boy" or contributions to Boulder Crest Retreat, which is a healing retreat for Veterans.
