Daniel Carl Whitman, age 70, of Paradise, MI, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Whitman, mother Barbara Langley, and a sister Pam (Whitman) Simon. He was born on July 29, 1942 in Battle Creek, MI.
He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School, and worked as a switchman for the Grand Trunk Railroad until joining the Army. Daniel was a Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar racing, cooking on an open fire, and picking blueberries.
He is survived by his children; Kim (Whitman) Romack and Sherran Whitman; sisters, Joyce Bradstreet, Sandy Barrus, and Sherran Gray; grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, Brittnee & Zachary, and three great grandchildren.
Committal services will take place at 2:00 pm, Friday March 8, 2013 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, located at 15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI 49012. All in attendance are asked to promptly arrive 15 minutes early at 1:45pm.

I am someone from Danny’s past..as a kid living in urbundale I was a neighbor kid who really enjoyed knowing Danny and going downtown and cruising the gut in the 38 chevy and later the 51 Ford he built..it was a nice car and a great time. Also going to his dad’s body shop. I am mad at myself for not getting back in touch as I moved away at age 16 and last saw him 50 years ago. But I never forgot him.
