Dale Eugene Miller, Sr., age 76, of Fenwick, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. He was born on March 9, 1943 near St. Joseph, Missouri.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam era, Dale served with the United States Army from 1961 to 1969 where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He later served for several years with the Michigan National Guard, was a member of the Stanton American Legion Post, and served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Stanton Fire Department. On March 20, 1999, at Orleans, he married the former Mattie D. Blan and together they celebrated 20 years of marriage this year. He retired from General Tire and enjoyed woodworking. Dale was a self-described "jack of all trades, master of none" and will be long remembered for his willingness to help family and friends with any projects they needed done.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Louise (Sifers) Tracy; and a brother, James "Jimmie" Miller. Surviving are his wife, Mattie Miller of Fenwick; his children, Dolly Miller & William Jeffers of Sheridan, Dale II & Debbie Miller of McBride, Angela Miller of Sheridan, Daniel Miller of St. Louis, and Michael Miller of St. Louis; two step-daughters, Angie & Mike Laux of Ionia and Denise & Duane Backus of Clare; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren — with three more expected soon; two sisters, Carolyn & Jerry McElroy of Belton, Missouri, and Beverly Bryant of Mt. Pleasant; siblings-in-law, Delbert & Lynn Blan of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Gene & Pearl Blan of Big Clifty, Kentucky, Delcie Meyers of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Kathern & Robert Williams of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where military honors will be rendered at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will take place privately at Clear Lake Cemetery. Envelopes for memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice will be available at the funeral home.
