Charles O. Young, age 90, of Stanton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Spectrum Health-Rehab & Nursing Center in Greenville. The son of George & Rosetta (Emmons) Young, he was born on the family farm in Stanton on June 8, 1924 and attended Stanton Agricultural School.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Charles retired from Federal Mogul Corp. in Greenville after 37 years of service and had served as Chief Steward for many years. He also farmed, was a skilled mechanic, and in his later years was a avid woodworker. For many years Charles had attended Nevins Lake Bible Church and was currently attending Greenville Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; and a sister, LaVon Hodges. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Bonnie Young of Stanton; three daughters, Donna Royce of Bradenton, Florida, Sharon Enbody of Gaylord, and Kristine Young of Stanton; three sons, Richard & Yolonda Young of North Vernon, Indiana, Michael & Cindy Chamberlain of Snellville, Georgia, and Rick A. & Denise Chamberlain of Kingsley; eight grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family is on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Greenville Community Church, 6596 S. Vining Road, Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. Joel Heron, lead pastor of Greenville Community Church will officiate with military honors, rendered by the U.S. Army, concluding the ceremonies. A luncheon will follow.
