Charles “Chuck” Merton Gooder, age 72, of Hudsonville, fought the good fight and passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 at home surrounded by family. The son of Merton & Mary Louise (Chapin) Gooder, he was born on June 22, 1943 in Grand Rapids. Chuck retired after several years as a Machinist Supervisor for Dematic. The most time he treasured was being up north at Silver Lake with family, boating and dunebuggying, enjoying the out doors, woodworking and creating so many wonderful close friendships. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Sharon Elerick, Barbara Coronel, and Robert Gooder. Surviving is his wife and high school sweetheart of 51 years, Mary Kay (Martin) Gooder; children, Jeffery Scott (Amy) Gooder, and Todd Martin (Darcy) Gooder; treasured grandchildren, Madelyn, Mason, and Emily; sister, Mary Lynne (Eric) Schilling-Gooder; brother-in-law, Paul Elerick; sister-in-law, Lucia Gooder; many loved nieces and nephews; life long friends, Bill & Cheryl Fairbanks; along with so many other special friends. The family would like to thank West Michigan Cancer and Hematology, Dr. Yuanbin Chen, and nurses, Lindsey, Tammy, and Gabby for their excellent compassionate care. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 227 Fulton Street East, Grand Rapids, where memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015. The Rev. Robert Hundley will officiate, with a luncheon following. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or In The Image.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.

    Remember Chuck when I was little, camping with our familys, and growing up on Norwood st, very nice man, he will be missed, Prayers to family

    chuck was one of a kind and will be missed.i remember the good times at silver lake and running the buggies and drinken beer.
