Catherine Virginia Zimmerman, age 81, of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday, May 23, 2005 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. The daughter of William & Rose (MacKenzie) Ensley, she was born on April 12, 1924 in Coopersville. Catherine was a long-time member of the Creston Post Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Grand Rapids.

Surviving are a brother, Don Ensley; a sister, Peggy Waldron, both of Grand Rapids; two sons, Terry Housler of Climax, and Michael Zimmerman of Lansing; a daughter, Sherl Thingstad of Lexington, Ky.; 13 grandchildren: Eileen Zimmerman, Kevin Zimmerman, Stephanie Czuhajewski, Erik Thingstad, Tim Housler, Chris Housler, Dan Housler, Kent Housler, Terrilynn Cook, Kimberly Mitchell, Tammy Black, James Housler, and Jennifer Housler; 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2005 from the chapel of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Avenue N.W., Grand Rapids.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Catherine to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. The Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, is serving the family and is entrusted with the arrangements.
