Carol Regina (Bentz) Anderson, age 88, passed peacefully from this life to her eternal home with her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.

Born on December 25, 1925 in Carson City, she gained Bible training at Moody Bible Institute and her nursing degree at North Park College and Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago and went on to serve as a medical missionary in Assam, India for six years with Baptist Mid-Missions. In India, she learned Bengali, nursed patients, delivered babies in the villages, helped develop a nursing school, and taught Bible. She had a lasting impact.

Returning to the United States, she gained additional education at the University of Michigan and Wayne State University and served as Chief Nursing Officer at Swedish Covenant Hospital and Associate Dean of Nursing at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She served on the national board of Nurses Christian Fellowship and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on behalf of Nurses Christian Fellowship for a number of years.

In 1970, she married Richard Anderson, in Grand Rapids, also gained four children. She was a faithful mother and wife, and in addition, served on the nursing faculty at Grand Valley State University. Moving to Lake Ann, she and her husband served in numerous volunteer capacities and she was a founder and actively involved in Community Bible Study as the lead teacher. After twenty years in the Traverse City area, she and Richard returned to Grand Rapids. Carol was devoted to her husband and her family which included eight children, thirteen grandchildren (and six spouses), and three great grandchildren (with two more on the way).

She was a wonderful wife and mother, proud and devoted grandmother and great grandmother, a gifted Bible teacher and nurse, cherished friend, and faithful person of prayer.

Her memorial service will be held at her home church, Christ Church, 2500 Breton Road S.E., Grand Rapids, at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014.
