In 1985, she moved to Greenville to be closer to her son and his family, and became a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Louis & Cathy Carman of Greenville; two granddaughters, Heather Jones and her husband, William, of Belding, and Cynthia Carman-Rasch, and her husband Patrick of Belding; a great granddaughter, Carman Jones, at home; four step-grandchildren, Susanna & Bruce Day of Six Lakes, Elizabeth & Kevin Lanz of Ionia, Michael & Rebecca Oliver, stationed with the U.S. Coast Guard in Virginia, and Brian & Kimberly Oliver, stationed with the U.S. Army in Colorado; seven step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has already taken place. The family wishes to express their grateful appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Long Term Care and suggest that in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Carman be directed to either the Long Term Care Unit at Spectrum Health United Memorial or Hospice of Michigan.
