I think this is the same Carl Barber. My name is Kathy Byrne (or was). I fell through the ice- cannot remember the name of the lake- Carl was at home that day helping his mother with the washing. The police were there but couldn’t help as the Chief was heavy set and was going to toss me a rope. I was about 5 years of age and had on my snowsuit and mittens and if I had missed the rope I would not have survived. So Carl crawled out on the ice, on his belly, and pulled me to safety.
I wish I had thought, many years earlier, to write this note of extreme thanks I wanted you to know he was a hero.
