Betty Jean Vaughn, age 83, formerly of Belding, passed away late Monday evening, January 26, 2015 under the loving care of her family and Grace Hospice at her daughter’s home in Ionia. The daughter of William & Ida Post, she was born on January 20, 1932 in Belding and was a graduate of Belding High School.

On November 1, 1963, in Ionia, she married Russell D. Vaughn and together they raised five children and enjoyed 34 years of marriage until Russell passed away in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Archie Post; two sisters, Marian Post and Beth Ann Douglas; and two great grandsons, Andrew William Hill and Zachary Lee Hill.

Betty enjoyed gardening and had been a member of the Belding Garden Club, as well as the Smyrna Social Club. After her family, her greatest love was Jesus Christ and her church, Jesus Non-Denominational Church in Greenville.

Surviving are her children, Linda Anderson of Georgia, Cathy & Rodney Phillips of Belding, Patty Dahlke, Phyllis & Steve Wireman, all of Ionia, and Alvin Vaughn of Lake Odessa; a brother, Duane Post of Belding; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Friday from 1-2 p.m. at Jesus Non-Denominational Church, 9206 Peck Road, Greenville, with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rev. Tommy D. Turner, Jr. will officiate and burial will take place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Instead of flowers, relatives and friends are asked to consider Betty’s final needs.
