Betty I. Bush, age 88, of Belding, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.  The daughter of Ellen (Johnson) & Francis H. Barnes, Sr., she was born on January 8, 1927 in Grand Rapids and was a graduate of Belding High School.

On December 11, 1954 she married William L. Bush and together they made their home in Belding and enjoyed almost fifty-two years of marriage until he passed away on November 29, 2006.

Betty retired from the General Motors Fisher-Body plant on Alpine Avenue in Grand Rapids after 25 years of service, was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star Doric Chapter No. 75, where she had served as Worthy Matron, was a life member of the Ladies Auxilary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4406 in Belding, and was a member of Turk Lake United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  her husband, William L. "Bill" Bush;  two children, Tim Bush and Dawn Jessee; two sisters, Agnes Milhiem and Ruth Alsgaard-Smith;  three brothers, Francis H. Barnes, Jr., Robert Barnes, and Harold Barnes;  two sisters-in-law, Betty Soss Barnes and Anita Barnes;  three brothers-in-law, Ken Milhiem, Norman "Bud" Alsgaard, and Vern Smith;  and a great grandson, Dakota Dean Murphy. 

Surviving are her children, Ross & Deb Gregory of Belding, Bill & Connie Gregory of Grant, Craig & Peg Gregory of Beaver Island, and Bonnie & Art Buda of Mexico, New York; a special niece, Betty L. Hilton of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Donna Barnes of Jenison;  eighteen grandchildren;  fifteen great grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren;  and many, many other dear nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, and from 10-11 a.m. on Monday at Turk Lake United Methodist Church, 8900 W. Colby Road, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.  Pastor Kay Welsch and Pastor Eric Mulanda Nduwa will officiate and committal services will follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
