Barbara (nee Mealiff) Leclair, age 89, of Fremont, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on Friday, February 16, 2018.

Born in Philadelphia to James & Winifred (Reilly) Mealiff of Philadelphia, PA, and sister of Drexel Hill PA residents James Mealiff, Jr., Winifred Gregory, Christine Mealiff,  and also Mary Betz, of Woodbridge, VA, all of whom preceded her in death.

She was the beloved wife of the late Donat (Don) R. Leclair, Sr.  Family was a defining part of Barbara’s life and she was a devoted mother of Donat Leclair, Jr., of Canton, MI, Stephen (Genji) Leclair, of Fremont, MI, Jeanne (Bob) Lappin, of Gaithersburg, MD, Christine Corriveau of Orland Park, IL, and Elizabeth Leclair, most recently of Fairfield Glade, TN.
She was a treasured Nannan to 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nephews and nieces and their families.

Barbara was known for her great sense of humor, her warm laugh and her love of her family. She had a wonderful sense of style and was a proprietor of a successful home decor and candle shop in Plymouth,MI The Pick O’ The Wick. Barb was the go to person when something needed to get done within her children’s swim teams often managing racing suit purchases, warmup jackets and more.

Always a woman of strong faith, Barbara was active in her community whether in Rockville MD where she participated in the St Mary’s Church Sodality; Plymouth MI where she joined the small business community; Smithville NJ where she chaired the South Jersey Irish Cultural Society; or, in Fairfield Glade TN, where she led the choir for several years and served as a Eucharistic minister. After the passing of her husband of 57 years,  Barbara studied for and became an Oblate Sister.

You never wondered where you stood with Barbara; she told things as she saw them. She was a fierce friend and loyal to everyone she loved. She loved family gatherings, playing bridge and pinochle, knitting and craftwork, cooking meals and having parties for family and friends,  and being part of good natured practical jokes. Simply put, she lived life in every sense, and will be deeply missed.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 7503 Peavine Rd., Fairfield Glade TN.
