Barbara Jean Hansen, age 84, of Coral, passed away early Saturday morning, December 1, 2018 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville.  The daughter of Harry & Helen (Thomas) Proctor, she was born on March 26, 1934 near Lake City.    

On May 15, 1952, in Hawkins, Indiana, she married Gerald D. Hansen and together they raised three children and enjoyed 66 years of marriage.  Barbara also worked outside home for several years as the bookkeeper for O'Donald's Pharmacy in Greenville and Trufant, was a long-time member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Trufant, and loved to sing  —  having won a singing contest at the age of 15.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  a brother, Melvin Proctor;  a sister, Crystal Pike;  two grandsons, Scott Welcher and Jason Hansen;  and an infant great-granddaughter, Alexi Nicole. 

Surviving are her husband, Gerald D. "Jerry" Hansen of Coral;  their children, Phillip & Patricia Hansen, Brenda Hatch & Marvin Doezema, and Lisa Hansen, all of Greenville;  four grandchildren, Angie & Brett Peterman, Kelly & Ryan McDonald, Michelle Hansen, and Jill Welcher;  twelve great-grandchildren;  a sister-in-law, Lois Sundell;  a brother-in-law, Gaylord & Shirley Hansen;  and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 408 W. 2nd Street, Trufant,  where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.  Pastor Mathew Magera will officiate and committal services will follow at Trufant Cemetery.
