Barbara A. Hamel, age 78, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon, April 20, 2018 from her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice.  The daughter of Donald Sutherland & Margaret Helen (Baudisch) Anderson,  she was born on February 27, 1940 in  Cleveland, Ohio.  On April 4, 1964, in Gates Mills, Ohio, she married Lee Earl Hamel and together they raised four children and enjoyed 54 years of marriage.  She assisted in her husband's business, Hamel's TV, in downtown Greenville for many years and later worked at the Christian Child Care Center at the First United Methodist Church.  She was a member of Ashley Baptist Church in Belding,  had previously had been a member of Faith Baptist Church in Greenville, and had participated in many Gideon's International activities with her husband. 

She was preceded in death by her parents;  a sister, Bette Jane Richmond;  and two brothers, Douglas Anderson and Michael Anderson.  Surviving are her husband, Lee Hamel of Greenville;  their children, Dennis & Beth Hamel of Comstock Park, Darrel & Rebecca Hamel of Eagle River, Alaska, Leslie Hamel-Alleyne & Marvin Alleyne of Orlando, Florida, and Lindsay & Mike Dekker of Greenville;  nine grandchildren;  a sister, Kelly Anderson of Euclid, Ohio;  a half-sister, Joan Young of Denver, Colorado;  and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 12-1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Ashley Baptist Church, 10463 Belding Road, Belding, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.  The Rev. Dr. David A. Oliver, pastor of Ashley Baptist Church, will officiate and committal services will take place privately at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville.

    So sorry for your loss but we have the peace and hope in knowing that she is in a better place and with her Lord!-á I have so many fond memories of Barb!-á She was a sweet lady!-á Keeping all of you in my heart and prayers.
