Audrey L. Dukes, age 77, of Sheridan, passed away Wednesday evening, January 15, 2014 at Heartland Health Care Center in Ionia. The daughter of Leon H. & Ruby M. (Welch) Ordiway, she was born on January 20, 1936 near Alma. On September 11, 1954, at the Pine Grove Church, she married Donald Winfield Dukes and together they raised four children and enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage.
Audrey was a devoted homemaker who delighted in cooking and baking for her family and friends, and was also a member of the Open Door Fellowship in Carson City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Beverly and Donna Jean; and by two grandchildren, Gregory and Kathleen.
Suriviving are her husband, Donald Dukes, Sr. of Sheridan; four children, Deborah & Dale Schnicke of Zephyrhills, Florida, Theresa & James Edwards of Stanton, Don & Cindi Dukes of Ionia, and Michael & Stephanie Dukes of Carson City; a sister, Mary & Charles Morgan of Stanton; brother-in-law, Ron & Shirley Dukes of Stanton; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, and from 12-1 p.m. on Monday at the Sheridan Assembly of God, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Instead of flowers, relatives and friends are asked to consider memorial contributions to the family.
