Audrey Ellen Harden, age 87, formerly of Saginaw and Lansing, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in Grand Rapids, following a ten-year struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. The daughter of Dr. Albert & Muriel Barker, she was born on September 29, 1929 in Bareilly, India. Her parents were 5th generation English citizens living in Colonial India. She came to the United States (Detroit) in 1946 after marrying Clyde R. Harden, a U.S. Army Air Corps pilot stationed in Delhi, India.

Together, Audrey and Clyde were long time members of First Congregational Church in Saginaw and First Presbyterian Church in Lansing. They made many wonderful friends in both cities. Audrey led an interesting life and shared with her children many colorful stories of her life in India, giving them a broad view of the world.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; her parents; and siblings, Albert James Barker of England, Beatrice Learmond of Hong Kong, and Olive Denver of Australia. She will be greatly missed by her four children: Barbara (Scott) Weber of Grand Rapids, James (Lisa) Harden of Dacula, Georgia, John (Jennifer) Harden of Frankenmuth, and Mary (Marc) Weiser of Ann Arbor. She also leaves special grandchildren, Daron Weber of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Leanna (Benjamin) Bultema of Chicago, Illinois, Robert Harden, Shelby (Andrew) Canas of Dacula Georgia, Ella and Trent Harden of Frankenmuth, and Cate and Leland Weiser of Ann Arbor; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held by the family in Saginaw in mid-November (Friends wishing to attend may contact Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care at 616-452-3006). The family would like to thank the staffs at Railside Assisted Living Center in Byron Center, and Spectrum Health Rehab & Nursing Center-Kalamazoo St. in Grand Rapids for their excellent care and support of Audrey. Please consider making a memorial donation in Audrey’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or your favorite charity.
