Vaughn, Arthur E – Grayling

Art Vaughn, 80, of Grayling passed from this life July 17, 2019.  He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Lisa) Henderson and Robert Vaughn, his sisters Donna Carroll of Arizona, Carole McCleary of California, grandchildren Kinzie, Katie, Lauren, Bobby, Michael, Nicholas and Nathan.  He is also survived by former wife Kathleen Estes.  He was further blessed by 5 great grandchildren he was pleased to spend time with these last few years.

Art retired from American Airlines after 39 years of service to his beloved cabin in the woods in Grayling.  Always a tinkerer and mechanic, during his time at the airlines, he was honored for innovative solutions that saved the airline hundreds of thousands of dollars. He also served in the Air National Guard, being honorably discharged in 1965.

Art developed a love for the Grayling after spending time in the area snowmobiling with friends.  He also enjoyed target shooting, watching the wildlife out his back windows and sharing these pursuits with his grandchildren. He was a good neighbor, freely loaning tools and time with friends and neighbors while working on projects in his garage.

For the last six years, Art was lovingly cared for by staff at Green Acres Retirement Living in Lowell, where he was treated with special cookies and attention.  They honored his night owl tendencies and he became bonded with many of the staff there.

Art was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Florence Vaughn and former wife Delphine.

Pursuant to his wishes, cremation has occurred and no service will be held.  The family requests that you take a moment to remember him fondly and raise a glass of your favorite spirit to cheer him on his way.
