Armando Campos Perez Jr., age 53, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 28, 2019.  He was born July 12, 1965, in Grand Rapids, to the late Armando and Hilda (Campos) Perez.  Armando graduated with the class of 1983 from Grand Rapids Central High School, which is where he met the love of his life, Jacqueline Starks, whom he married in Grand Rapids on November 16, 1984. 

After graduation, Armando worked in construction and drywall for various companies until he started his own business about eight years ago, Perez Drywall.  Armando was an avid drummer and member of numerous bands; he loved cooking and gardening, and traveling to Arizona, which he considered his second home. 

Survivors include his wife of nearly 35 years, Jacqueline Perez; two daughters, Katrina (partner, Dave Smith) Perez and Celia (Andrew Howse) Perez; granddaughter, Santana Smith; three grandsons, Alex Perez and Jacob and Everett Proper and their father, Aeron Proper; brothers and sisters, Sixta Placencia, Louis (Karen) Placencia, Yolanda (Juan) Martinez, Arthuro Placencia, Melissa Perez, and Jeffrey Perez; and many other relatives and friends.

Armando was preceded in death by his parents; youngest daughter, Tatiana Perez; and brother, Valentino Placencia. 

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Michigan Cremation and Funeral Care, 3627 Linden Avenue S.E. at 36th Street, Grand Rapids, MI, 49548. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Spectrum Health Hospice for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers a fund has been established to assist the family with final expenses.
