Arlene M. Curtis, age 82, of Turk Lake, Greenville, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, Sunday evening, May 15, 2005 at Metron of Cedar Springs. The daughter of Clyde & Mabel (Seat) Reynolds, she was born on Feb. 18, 1923 in Lakeview. She was a graduate of Greenville High School, where her artistic and painting talents earned her several competitive awards. In 1942 she married Archie M. Curtis before he left to fight in World War II. Arlene was a devoted wife and mother, in addition to teaching Sunday School at the First United Methodist Church. She also participated in league golfing, was a member of Si Queras, and had also volunteered as a Gray Lady at United Memorial Hospital. She and Archie wintered in Florida for over 33 years where together they enjoyed the company of their friends, golfing, biking (Arlene organized the Holiday Cove Bicycle Club), and walking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Donnie Curtis; her husband, Archie Curtis on April 23, 2003; a brother, Roderick Reynolds; and siblings-in-law, William Curtis, Robert E. Bob Curtis, Alvy Rial, Edward Schultheiss, and Pauline Reynolds.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie & John Hudson of Cadillac, and Betsy Curtis of Marquette; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chris & Virginia Curtis, and Kelly Curtis, all of Greenville; three sisters, Gertrude & Bob Luce of Florida, Jean & John Britzman of Turk Lake, and Donna Rial of Cedar Springs; a brother, Doug & Gaye Reynolds of Muskegon; two sisters-in-law, Helen Schultheiss of Salem, Oregon, and Marian Curtis of Greenville; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2005 from the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. The Rev. Dr. Harry R. Johnson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at East Montcalm Cemetery, with her grandsons, Kevin Hall, Sean Smith, Bill Taylor, Justin Debelak, Ben Curtis, and Kyle Curtis, serving as pallbearers. Visitation is on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Envelopes for memorial contributions to the charity of ones choice are available at the funeral home.
