She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, John Broekstra; her husband, Ralph Spencer on March 17, 2002; and one brother and three sisters.

Surviving are four children, William (Deborah) Spencer of Florida, Pastor Roger (Barb) Spencer of Petoskey, June (Ken) Cross of Langston, and Sandra Doornbos of Grandville; nine grandchildren, Jeff (Stephanie) Spencer, Julie Spencer, Rebecca (Jim) Chambers, Gordon Cross, Don (Carmen) Cross, Daniel (Teri) Cross, Clara Cross, Joshua Doornbos, Tena Doornbos, and Elsa Doornbos; nine great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Spencer; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation is on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. Instead of flowers, Anna would have appreciated memorial contributions to RBM Ministries, P.O. Box 128, Plainwell, MI 49080.

I have many fond memories of Grandma. Grandma always had a garden, and one year she fixed up a special area just for me to have my own garden. We canned lime pickles together. In my later years, my special memories are of singing in the Danish Choir with Grandma. I love you, and I miss you. I look forward to seeing you and Grandpa in Heaven some day. Love Don.

Bill, Rog and Barb, June and Ken, Sandy– When my Dad called today, to tell me of your Mom’s passing, my mind immediately went back 50 years to those days on Wallace Ave. I remember her just going through life, one foot in front of the other, simply doing what needed to be done. I never heard her complain or lose her temper (although you may remember things that I don’t!! :) ), and whenever we kids would do the things that kids do, she would just chuckle, and smile while shaking her head, as if to say “Kids! What am I going to do with them?”…and she would just keep on doing her thing. Seems that’s just the quiet way she went about her whole life. Over the past number of years, she has certainly faced some pretty major health crises….who would ever think she would have lived to be 82 years old?? But she did! :) I understand the past year or so has been very difficult. My prayer for all of you in the days ahead, is that you will be able to put aside the difficult memories, and all of the good ones will flood forward to take their place. Remember the Ann who was so full of love for everyone who crossed her path. And imagine her great joy at finally being completely whole and healthy again, in the presence of her God! Praising Him, with you, for the wonderful woman and Mom she was! Much love, Marcia

I have many wonderful memories of my grandma. One was the time I was at the lake fishing and a tree fell in the water. It scared me so bad that I ran to the house screaming “saying God is coming”.Grandma said no it was just a tree falling. Grandma would always take my fish that I caught off my hook because I was to scared. What a wounderful mother and grandma she was. I will miss her greatly. May God embrace grandma with open arms. I love you grandma and I will miss you. Love Dan and Terri Cross.
