Amy Louise Schneider, age 57, of Jenison, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016. Beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, friend, and Stargazer Warrior is finally resting from her fierce and brutal battle with pancreatic cancer.

Amy was a Project Manager at Dematic for the past 11 years. She was an artist and baked extraordinary cakes for any occasion. She was kind, generous, considerate, loyal, loving and devoted to those she loved, especially her son. Her goal was to hike the Pacific Coast Trail; she felt it represented her cancer journey.

Amy was preceded in passing by Jake, her dog was a constant companion through much of her illness. She leaves behind her son, Kendall DeVlieg; parents, Don and Anne Schneider; siblings, JoEllen (Ron Dwelle) Schneider, Art (Melanie) Schneider, Barry Schneider, and Jennifer McEwen; many nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, and cousins; her co-workers at Dematic; and many many dear friends.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving care and kindness given Amy by the medical staff at Lemmen-Holton, especially Yvette Cole. We also wish to thank Amy’s neighbor and dear friend, Karen Melinn, who was always there for Amy, no matter what was needed, and showed Amy’s family the same love and care.

A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Gilda’s Club, 1806 Bridge St. N.W., Grand Rapids. In lieu of flowers, Amy’s family requests memorial contributions to Van Andel Research Institute (specify Pancreatic Cancer Research) or Bluebird Cancer Retreats.

Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
