Althea Agnes Nichols, age 79, of rural Sheridan, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at her home.  The daughter of Ethel Belle (Baldwin) & Raymond J. Sly, Sr., she was born on January 23, 1937 in Comstock Park. 

On July 15, 1955, she married Emory J. Nichols and together they enjoyed 35 years of marriage until Emory passed away on July 20, 1990.  She was also preceded in death by her parents;  two sisters, Arden Sly and Sandra Hansen;  and two brothers, Chuck Sly, and Burton Sly.

Althea retired from the former Electrolux Home Products, having worked at both the Greenville and Belding plants, and was a member of Jesus Non-Denominational Church.  She enjoyed all types of handicrafts including embroidery, quilting, knitting, and crocheting, as well as reading and studying her Bible.

Surviving are her children, Kim Silos, Emory & Kathy Nichols, Jr., Cynthia & Dennis Holliday, Jeffrey Nichols, Gerold & Tina Nichols, Arden & Chris Daigre, Dora & Vern Warner, and Diane Nichols;  seven brothers and sisters, Phyllis Sawdy, Raymond & Shirley Sly, Jr., Robert & Betty Sly, Betty Sias, Freda & Gary VanBuskirk, Sharon & Lenford Collins, and Charlene Cazier;  a sister-in-law, Beatrice Sly;  twenty-one grandchildren;  forty-two great-grandchildren;  two great-great grandchildren; many, many nieces and nephews;  and her always faithful canine companion, Sebastian. 

Visitation is from 12-1 p.m. on Tuesday at Jesus Non-Denominational Church,  9206 Peck Road, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.  Althea's pastor, the Rev. Tommy D. Turner, Jr., will officiate and burial will take place privately at Evergreen Cemetery near Sheridan.
