Donna Jean Schur, age 91, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born October 13,1930, in Lawton, Michigan, to William and Hazel Hughes.

Donna married Robert Schur in April of 1950. They were blessed with 4 children: John, Ronnie, Gerald, and only daughter, Shirley.

She was a lifelong farmer living on a local, small farm in Lawton, Michigan, raising dairy cattle and grapes on the same farm she raised her family, where they still reside.

Donna was often seen at Rainbow Lanes in Paw Paw partaking in her favorite pastime: Bowling. She bowled for over 40 years and won many awards. She was one of the top bowlers in her league in her prime even achieving a 7-10 split! She bowled in the National Woman’s Bowling Competition in Reno Nevada.

Donna had a fantastically stubborn personality, often described as tenacious. Standing up for her small farm and family, Donna was also a giving woman, opening her home to those that needed respite.

Donna is survived by her children, John (Christina), Ronald, Gerald (Sue) and Shirley; grandchildren, Lindsey, David (Sarah), Daniel (Hannah), Derek (Searrah), Ronnie Jean (Levi), Robert, Jason, Caleb (Chelsea); great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jake, Sydney, Nora, Quinn, Audra, Clara, Silas, Jacob, Mason, Cameron, and niece, Rose Bigelow.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sisters, Louise Downs, Lula Mae Hoover, Pauline Sampsell, Alice Speck, Maxine Spiker, Arline Hughes, Robert Hughes; her husband and grandson-in-law, Ryan.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter. (www.alz.org/mglc)
