Virginia Medler

Virginia Elaine Medler, age 93, of Trufant, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at Golden Life Adult Foster Care in Greenville. The daughter of Ainsworth & Doris (Jones) Miller, she was born on September 6, 1926 in Greenville. On November 14, 1944, in Greenville, she married Donald F. Medler and together they raised four children and enjoyed 29 years of marriage until Don passed away on December 3, 1973. Virginia had been a longtime member of Settlement Lutheran Church in Gowen, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cleveland-Wolverton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Greenville, the Danish Sisterhood Society in Trufant, as well as the Secret Pal Club. She enjoyed gardening, canning, tending her flowers, and for many years also been a daycare provider for many children who remained dear to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald F. Medler, Sr.,; a son, Thomas W. Medler; a daughter, Sandra Kay Matthews; a son-in-law, Paul Arnold Matthews; a sister, Shirley Madole; and five brothers, Marvin Miller who died in combat in Korea in 1953, Robert Miller, Herbert Miller, Lyle Miller, and Raymond D. Miller. Surviving are her children, Donald & Janet Medler, Jr. of Grant, Debbie & Tery Schuiteman of Manistee; and Karol Medler of Trufant; grandchildren, Chris & Michelle Medler, Jennifer & Jason Oliver, Kelli Medler, Donnie Medler, and Wes & Kara Farrell; great-grandchildren, Corin Medler, Nolan Medler, Drew Medler, and Adriana Farrell; a sister-in-law, Shirley M. Miller of Greenville; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Due to space limitations and the governor's continued emergency orders, private funeral services will be held on Friday at Settlement Lutheran Church with The Reverend Betsy Kamphuis officiating. However, relatives and friends are invited to join the family for graveside committal services at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Trufant Cemetery. Instead of flowers, Virginia would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Settlement Lutheran Church, 1031 S. Johnson Road, Gowen, MI 49326.
