T. Turner

Bishop T.D. Turner, Sr., age 70, of Cedar Springs, went to be with his Lord late Saturday evening, January 26, 2013 from Spectrum Health-Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids after a brief illness. The son of Travis A. & Opal V. (Maynard) Turner, Sr., he was born on April 6, 1942 in Varney, West Virginia and was a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Army. On October 12, 1963, in Grand Rapids, he married the former Jill Hammond and together they raised three children and served the Lord in ministry together since 1965. He pastored several churches in Grand Rapids until moving to the area and founding what became Jesus Non-Denominational Church in addition to traveling to evangelize and conduct revival meetings. He enjoyed bowling, camping, family gatherings, and cookouts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis A. & Opal V. Turner, Sr; and a brother, Travis A. Turner, Jr. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, First Lady Jill Turner; their children, Joy M. Turner-Cole and Angel D. Turner, both of Greenville, and the Rev. Tommy D. & Maria Turner, Jr. of Rockford; a sister, Jean & Bob Longoria of Howard City; ten grandchildren, Shanda & Scott VerHey, Jessica Cole, Erica Cole, Hunter Cole, David & Kristi Jachim, Sarrah Jill & Mario Guerrero, Daniel Maxon, Tommy D. Turner III, Elijah H. Turner, and Hannah Marie Turner; four great grandchildren, David Jachim, Jr., Lucas Jachim, Kyah Guerrero, and Kenzi Guerrero; siblings-in-law, Pat & Phyllis Hammond of Grand Rapids, Bobby Hammond of Florida, Willis Hammond of Ypsilanti, Paulette Westcott of Florida, and Mildred Justice of Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
