Sharon Alger

January 18, 1940 — September 19, 2020

Sharon Leola Alger, age 80, of Edmore, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Schnepp Senior Care & Rehabiliation Center in St. Louis after a brief illness. The daughter of Leo A. & Bertha (Skinner) Vanderlip, she was born on January 18, 1940 in Gowen. Sharon raised six children and also worked outside the home at the former Kalfacts Plastics in Greenville and in retirement volunteered with Senior Companions. She enjoyed sewing, especially making hats and doll clothes to give to children, word searches, trips to the casino, and spoiling her feline companion, Tweety. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Christopher Alger on February 28, 1983; her former husband, Paul E. Alger on April 19, 2004; a sister, Phyllis Nielsen; two brothers, Roger Vanderlip, and Richard Vanderlip; and a son-in-law, Ernie Drayton. Surviving are her children, Larry & Kathy Alger of Phoenix, Arizona, Joan & Brent Reeves of San Antonio, Texas, Paula Drayton of Greenville, Ronda Antes of Sheridan, and Bonnie & Darin Lund of Sheridan; seventeen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Honoring her wishes, no public services will be held and burial at Sidney Township Cemetery will take place privately. Instead of flowers, Sharon would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Senior Companions in care of EightCAP, Inc., 906 Oak Drive, Greenville, MI 48838.
