Rock Middleton Obituary (1956 - 2024) - Grand Rapids, Michigan

Rock “Rocky” Courtland Middleton, age 67, of Wyoming, Michigan, passed away comfortably Monday, February 12, 2024, at home surrounded with the love and kindness of his family. He was born November 5, 1956, in Leesburg, Virginia to Franklin and Stella (Marshall) Middleton. Rocky proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he started his career and worked over 50 years in the aerospace industry until his retirement. Rocky was an avid hunter and loved spending time up north on his property. He loved animals and had many family dogs throughout his lifetime. Rocky lived how he wanted and loved music and drinks. He will be remembered and missed as a husband, father, grandfather, and veteran. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Susan VanTuinen-Middleton; son, Curt Oostveen; step-children, Dannette (Joseph Sturm) Gossage, Paula Lafontsee, and Dennis (Susan Zink) Gossage; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; father, Frank (Martha) Middleton; sister, Desiree Schuttie; 1 niece; and 2 nephews. Rocky was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy (Bill) Toles and his grandson, Jared Gossage. Per his wishes cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held at this time. Susan would like to say a special thank you to his children for their support, especially grand-daughters, Elizabeth and Samantha in his final hours.
