Robert Allen Beukema, age 63, of Canadian Lakes, formerly of Sand Lake, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 at his daughter's home under the loving care of his family and Heartland Hospice.
The son of Donald Jay & Grace Marie (Emanouil) Beukema, he was born on November 9, 1956 in Grand Rapids. After graduating from Kellogsville High School, Bob worked at Steelcase and then owned Blue Lake Inn for 16 years before retiring.
Bob enjoyed camping, casinos, music, landscaping with his fish ponds and he LOVED Christmas. His dad worked for the railroad and Bob loved all the history, memorabilia, and tools of the railroad and he had many saved from his dads work at Conrail. He liked to fish, go boating and traveling to Florida in the winters. He loved to cook (especially Greek food), he loved plants and spending time with family and he loved his dogs. Bob was always ready for a laugh and was always the one telling jokes to everyone around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nicole & Byron Andres of Sand Lake; five grandchildren, Brooklyn Kae, Kyla Grace, Kaylie Maxine, Briley Nicole and Ryker Byron; his girlfriend Erica Estep; a brother, Michael & Jodi Beukema; a sister, Cheryl & Arnold Holshoe; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the family is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday October 29, 2020 at Belgreen Seventh Day Adventist Church, 9799 Baker Road Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon, with a luncheon to follow at The Winter Inn in Greenville. Bob loved flowers and plants and also would have appreciated contributions in his memory to the family.
