Richard Devers

Richard LeRoy Devers, age 69, of Greenville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 13, 2021. The son of John & Gladys Esther (Priest) Devers, he was born on September 20, 1951 in Ionia. On July 3, 1971, in Ionia, he married the love of his life Vicki Lynn Grummet and together they enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage and raised four children. For 28 years Rick worked for the Michigan Department of Corrections, starting as a corrections officer and retiring as grievance coordinator from the Carson City Correctional Facility. In retirement, Rick continued to serve others as a Jail Chaplain at the Montcalm County Jail. Rick was always willing to share the word of God with others and enjoyed serving the Lord and delivering Sermons when given the opportunity. His hobbies included working in his yard, walking and staying active, fishing and spending time with his family whom he cherished, including grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister. Surviving are his wife, Vicki Devers of Greenville; their children Wendy King of Greenville, Brandy (Ben) Hamilton of Belding, Jason (Shelley) Devers of Belding & Kaedy (Joseph) Moore of Greenville; his grandchildren, Chastity (Caleb) Geurnsey of Belding, Haylee (Jesse) Godfrey of Portland, Jordan (Jordan DeYoung) King of Ionia, Beau & Nash Devers of Belding and Roscoe Moore of Greenville; four great -grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Honoring his wishes, no services will be held. Instead of flowers, Rick would have appreciated contributions in his memory to Spencer Mills Church, Gowen Michigan.
