Nelda Miller, age 89 of Gowen, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Spectrum Health Rehab & Nursing Center - United Hospital. The daughter of Theo and Liddie (Opper) Swartz she was born March 28, 1926 at Turk Lake. On June 22, 1946, in Greenville, she married Ernest G. Miller, Sr. who preceded her in death on October 6, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; four sisters; a grandson, Ernest G. Miller III.; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A devoted wife and mother, she raised seven children of her own and also helped with about twenty of the neighborhood children as well. The Miller's were always glad to set another place at the table. Over the years, Nelda enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and gardening and had been a member of the Gowen Birthday Club... however her greatest joy was in time spent with her grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Ernest G. Jr. & Mary Miller of Gowen, Linda (Borstler) & Ron Klunder of Gowen, Mike & Sharon Miller of Cedar Springs, Marcia & Rick Jeffrey of Sheridan, Pam & Clarence Strecker of Greenville, Sharon & Herman Collin of Gowen, Brenda & Bryan Sowles of Greenville; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren, with the 33rd on the way; and one great-great grandson; and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rev. Tommy D. Turner, Jr., pastor of Jesus Non-Denominational Church, will officiate and burial will take place privately at East Montcalm Cemetery.
