Larry Horner

June 4, 1939 — July 11, 2018

Larry Gene Horner, age 79, of rural Sheridan, passed away Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Lawrence & Leona (McDonald) Horner, he was born on June 4, 1939 in Newberry. Larry was a proud veteran of the Michigan National Guard and retired from MTS Transportation On May 6, 1989, in Cedar Springs, he married the former Diane Mary VanVonderen and together they enjoyed 28 years of marriage until Diane passed away on August 26, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Al, Bill, and Russ; five sisters, Opal, Nell, Evelyn, Della, and Lavon; and a son, Rick. Larry was an avid outdoorsmen and was always ready to grab a pole and fish. He loved having morning coffee on the deck with family and friends and watch the birds. In the evening he was either playing Uno or Euchre or watching Westerns on television. He also enjoyed wood working -- including building bird houses in his spare time. Surviving are his children, Erik & Michelle Kulkoski of St. Johns, Amanda Horner & Ben Churchill of Wyoming, Steve & Cindy Horner; Paul & Vicky Schorsch, Tom & Trish Horner, Larry & Melanie Horner, Mike Horner, Kleetus Horner, and John Horner; Larry's girlfriend, Teresa Hammond of Gowen; his puppies Sadie, Sapphire, and Heidi; his grandpuppies, Phoenix and Noami; grandkitties, Bowser, Peanut, and Alistar; and many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Crystal Lake Community Church, 122 S. Main Street, Crystal.
