Jonathan R. Wright, age 64, of Cedar Springs, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The son of Roger Johnson & Mildred (Cottrell) Wright, he was born on February 21, 1952 in Greenville.
Jonathan served in the Community of Christ Church (formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) and was ordered to the priesthood at the age of 19 and severed in various roles in the church, including as Pastor.
A graduate of Central Michigan University, he earned his bachelor's degree in education and taught in elementary classrooms at Wayland Public Schools for 30 years.
On November 18, 1989, in Grand Rapids, he married Joanne Kay Hargrove, and together they enjoyed 27 years of marriage. He enjoyed bird watching, swimming, tennis, and gardening, as well as cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Iloann Gee. Surviving are his wife, Joanne Wright of Cedar Springs; step-sons, Michael Fly & Kelly Tiles of Greenville, and Joshua & Michelle Fly of Corpus Christi, Texas; his grandchildren, Alexandria Fly of Marine City, Marie Fly of Traverse City, Brenden Fly, and Katelynn Fly of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother, Paul Wright of Grand Rapids; siblings-in-law, Mary & Roscoe Parks, Sue & Dave Boice, Harold & Kelly Hargrove, Sam & Mary Hargrove, and Linda & James Vaughn; and several nieces and nephews.
