Jerry E. Corbin, age 76, of Greenville, Michigan passed away late Friday evening, June 24, 2016 at his daughter's home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Michigan. Jerry had resided in Greenville, Michigan for the last four months. Prior to that, Jerry enjoyed his retirement in Franklin, North Carolina where he was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and the community. The son of Annalee (Holland) & Thomas Furman Corbin, Sr., he was born January 15, 1940 in Franklin, North Carolina. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Jerry began his career in the furniture manufacturing industry after his honorable discharge. Jerry began his career at Carolina Woodturning in Bryson City, North Carolina and retired from Baker Furniture as Vice-President of engineering. He enjoyed spending his time watching FOX News, tracing his own family genealogy, reading Greek and Roman history, working the daily crossword and cryptoquote puzzles. Jerry also published a book, "American Vice & Virtue" on the history of democracy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two wives, Leavena (Jacobs) Corbin and Kaye (Nave) Corbin. Surviving are his children, Kimberly & Chris Komst of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, Gerri Dawn & Dale Willmarth of Gun Lake, Susan Renee Corbin of Greenville, Michigan and Caroline Corbin & Laura Couch of Chattanooga, Tennessee; five brothers, Eugene & Sofia McIntyre of Walnut Creek, California, Wilford Corbin of Abingdon, Virginia, Thomas Furman & Joanne Corbin, Jr. of Denver, Colorado, Jackie David Corbin of Nashville, Tennessee, and James Michael & Sue Corbin of Garfield, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Jerry's life from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, Michigan, with a time of sharing beginning at 2:00 p.m. and food and fellowship following.
