Imogene Marion "Jean" Galloway, age 87, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Michigan . The daughter of John & Bessie May (Sherman) Allen, she was born June 22, 1930 in Lakeview.
On September 22, 1948, in Belding, she married Arthur Robert Galloway and they recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Jean retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Company after twelve years of service at both the Belding and Greenville plants.
In retirement, Jean & Art spent their winters in Florida, and together they enjoyed finding a bargain at yard and garage sales. Jean loved her flowers, and was always looking for new recipes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Beatrice Allen; and three brothers, Harold Allen, Cliff Allen, and Kenneth Allen. Surviving are husband, Art Galloway of Greenville; their son, Bob Galloway of Greenville; their daughter, Sandy & Doug Beek of Byron Center; a sister, DeElda Martin of Texas; siblings-in-law, Iris Allen, Ron Sinclair, Jane Larned, Marion Galloway and Betty Galloway; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Shiloh Community Church, 8197 Heth Street, Orleans, where memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Rev. Kenneth Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate and a luncheon will follow the service. Honoring Jean's wishes, cremation has taken place and final interment will be in Cato Township Cemetery near Lakeview.
