Geneva Pearl Peer, age 88, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday morning, March 21, 2017 at home under the loving care of her daughters and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of John M. & Anna (Lee) Ostrom, she was born on February 18, 1929 in Pontiac.
On December 7, 1946, in Greenville, she married Louis Clinton Peer, Jr. and together they raised seven children, enjoyed over 68 years of marriage, were longtime members of the First Church of God in Greenville, and loved traveling across America together.
Geneva also worked outside the home at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company, Federal Mogul Corporation, and retired as the manager of the Purple Cow at Meijer Store No. 1 in Greenville. She enjoyed handicrafts, bird watching, and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lester J. Sitts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5065 in Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis C. Peer on January 17, 2015; a sister, Ruby; three brothers, Pete, Ernie, and Herb; two daughters-in-law, Wilma Peer and Patricia Peer; and two infant grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Duane & Ann Peer of Trufant, Devere Peer of Rockford and Phyllis Peer of Florida, Darwin & Linda Peer of Idaho, Marvin & Bobbie Peer of Indiana, David & Molly Peer of Connecticut, Doreen & Kim Akkerhuis of Greenville, and Dawn & Randy Kincaid of Cedar Springs; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Her pastor, Rev. Bob Cooper, along with her former pastor, Rev. Dave Perry, will officiate and burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville.
