Gary Cross

Gary Leroy Cross, age 72, of Sheridan, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at his home after sudden heart attack. The son of Mabel Lucille (Knapp) & Kenneth Harrison Cross, Sr., he was born on December 16, 1948 in Edmore. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a brother, Kenneth Harrison Cross, Jr., on June 9, 2020. Gary had worked at the former Electrolux Home Products, starting as a line worker and eventually advancing to a general foreman. He also worked in industrial maintenance at Drake Products in Greenville, Keystone in Adam and Cascade Diecasting in Sparta. A decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War, Gary proudly served with the U.S. Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Purple Heart. Surviving are a daughter, Janelle & Dan Lambert of Hastings; a step-daughter, Paula (Ross) Tabor of Carson City; grandchildren, Ashley Rogers of Plainwell, Kevin Rogers of Hastings, Addyson Lambert of Hastings; a great-grandson, Kenneth Gillhespy of Plainwell; a brother, Ronnie Cross of St. Johns; a sister, Christine Cambell of Belding; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family is from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with military honors concluding the visitation at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Military honors will be rendered jointly by the United States Army and the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101. Honoring Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will take place privately at Lakeview Cemetery.
