Floyd Wright

Floyd Cecil "Butch" Wright, Jr., age 74, of Stanton, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville. The son of Lucetta Lila (Eager) & Floyd Cecil Wright, Sr., he was born on February 15, 1948 in Edmore. On June 4, 1966, at Six Lakes, he married Sandra Lynn Johnston and together they enjoyed nearly 56 years of marriage and raised four children. Floyd worked as a professional driver with Shook Asphalt Company, later with High Grade Materials, and then again with Shook Asphalt. He enjoyed and lived a simple life. He cherished his family and liked fishing, cookouts and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved feeding his squirrels (many of which he had names for) and his hummingbirds. He was preceded in death by his parents; Floyd Cecil Wright and Lucetta Lila Hildebrandt; three infant sisters; two sisters, Cindy Wright and Margaret Swift; his mother-in-law, Anna Vaughn; and a brother-in-law, Charlie Vaughn. Surviving are his wife, Sandy Wright of Stanton; their children, Tracy Larson of Stanton, Floyd C. Wright III & Lori Lester of Greenville, Tricia Wright & Ken Beeson of Howard City, and Troy & Jennifer Wright of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Jennifer & Tracy Nathan of Six Lakes, Elizabeth & Dave Kimble of Stanton, Cassandra & Michael Ruid of Six Lakes, Miranda & Jason Lance of Edmore, Kayla Wright of Greenville, Michelle Lester of Newaygo and Jimmy & Amanda Wright of Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren, Dominik, Bella, Isaiyah, Chantel, TJ, Courtney, Connor, William and Kathleen; a Donald & Marsha Wright; a sister, Paula Galehouse of St. Louis; siblings-in-law, Dennis Vaughn of Blanchard, Robert & Kathy Vaughn of Georgia, and Tom & LuAnn Vaughn of Tustin; several nieces, nephews; and many other children that also called him Papa. Butch's family said that he was one of the nicest people you could have met. He was a hardworking man and always made sure his family was taken care of. He would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it, or heck, even if they just wanted it. He was a jack of all trades (and a master of none) as he would say. If he couldn't fix something, he knew somebody that could. There was a running joke with him and his grandchildren, if they ever broke down anywhere or needed anything, his number was 1-800-GRANDPA.
